Biography
Eric Powell, 44, has represented District 4 and Alcorn, Tippah and Tishomingo counties in the Mississippi Senate since January 2008. Eric serves as vice chair- man of the Senate Labor Committee and a member of the Senate Drug Policy; Finance; Forestry; Ports and Marine Resources; Tourism; and Wildlife, Fisheries
and Parks committees.
Eric was born and raised in Tishomingo County. He is a graduate of Tishomingo High School and Northeast Mississippi Community College; he earned a bachelor’s degree from Wingate University. Eric is a former Corinth High School coach who now works at Packing Corp. of America.
Eric is married to Gwen Salters Powell and they have three children: Ebria, Austin and Kiana. He is chair- man of the Trustee Board of Mason St. Luke Baptist Church, which his family attends. Eric and his family live in Corinth.
